About Benson Tech Athletics

Benson Tech has over 400 athletes competing on 35 teams in 21 sports registered through the Oregon School Athletics Association. According to PPS annual report 40% of these student athletes are receiving some type of scholarship to enable participation.  To make that possible we need the support of you, our neighborhood and school community.

According to the National Athletic Trainers Association, student athletes manifest stronger peer relationships, better attachment with adults, higher self-esteem, a closer sense of family, and participate more in volunteerism. They are less likely to engage in high-risk behavior. They have a greater sense of initiative, persistence and personal responsibility.

The  Center for Disease Control conducts a survey every two years that studies risky behaviors of  high school students has concluded that participation in high school sport reduces the risk of students using drugs, alcohol, or tobacco, and their likelihood of carrying a weapon.  The survey also concluded that participation in high school sports significantly reduces the risk of suicidal behaviors.
